Job Description

Lake Superior Community Health Center is seeking a dental receptionist for Duluth, MN. The Lab Medical Assistant works within the clinical care team to assure quality patient care and to support the goals of Lake Superior Community Health Center.

The dental receptionist greets clients of all ages and/or their representatives and obtains all pertinent information needed to complete a patients intake record. Answers incoming phone calls from patients. Collects all necessary paperwork needed to complete patients’ registration including verifying insurances, collecting nominal fees and copays, scheduling patient appointments, helping with other patient inquiries. Work closely with the dental team to keep schedules full and keep the flow of the daily schedule.

  • Pay range $14.00-$16.94

Job Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Call center or phone etiquette experience
  • Experience in working in a dental office setting, preferred
  • Experience with insurance verification, billing and/or processing payor

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer and Microsoft Office software knowledge
  • High level of customer services skills, tact and diplomacy
  • Knowledge of healthcare and dental practices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Demonstrates ability to consistently achieve a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain all pertinent clients intake information
    • Greet clients of all ages and obtains all pertinent information to ensure accurate capture of data for billing and reporting purposes
    • Explains all forms requiring completion to the client or their representative
    • Schedules client appointments according to department procedure
  • Verifies all third-party payer information
    • Identifies client’s insurance company or managed care plan and benefit eligibility
    • Provides insurance company with required information
    • Ensures clients are eligible for services prior to treatment
    • Responds to incoming customer calls
    • Answers questions and/or refers calls to appropriate staff
    • Take messages, when appropriate
    • Schedules appointments according to procedure
    • Make outgoing phone calls to patients as needed
  • Clerical responsibilities
    • Scanning all documents into the system needed for patient care
    • Ensures demographic information is up-to-date and accurate
    • Verify insurance prior to treatment and update chart
    • Faxes prescriptions to pharmacy as directed by dentist
    • Help patients fill out Release of Information (ROIs)
  • Client billing and collections
    • Collect client co-payment or nominal fee at beginning of appointments
    • Work with billing department for any financial agreements patients may have
  • Participates with the dental team to make sure patients are seen efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Miscellaneous Duties
    • Responsible for personal compliance with LSCHC
    • Maintains patient confidentiality
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Communicates with all other staff members
